The Ganesh idol in the house of Kanubhai Asodia, who is in the diamond business in Surat, has been recorded as the most expensive idol in the world. Weighing 182.3 carats this diamond is self-contained.
Kanubhai says that this diamond was one of the raw diamonds that came to him from Belgium 12 years ago. Today, Ganesha has become their adored deity.
If the shape of Ganesha is formed automatically, it is called Swayambhu Ganesha.
Kanubhai says there is no reason to value this idol because faith cannot be valued.
However, diamond connoisseurs have estimated the value of this diamond to be more than Rs 600 crore.
He received several offers for the idol but said he would not sell it.
He had kept the idol in the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai for a few days after his family and outsiders were urged to pay homage to Lord Ganesha. Kanubhai also says that many dignitaries from home and abroad have come to Surat to pay homage to this idol.
Like the market price, this idol is more expensive than the Kohinoor diamond. The Kohinoor diamond weighs 105 carats and the idol weighs 182.3 carats.
